The passion for the cycling of Sandra Jordà

The passion for the cycling of Sandra Jordà

Ultramarathon European Champion (2017) and Spain's champion of Enduro (2017, 2018). Orbea ambassador, Sárá Jordà It is one of the best known cyclists of Mountain Bike female. Orbea and biker enormously popular in social networks such as Instagram. His father instilled in him the passion for the motor world, but Sandra tried the bike and from there they did not take it out. His beginnings were on the track and with road bike, but he always knew that his was the MTB. Do you find it easy to combine two modalities as different from MTB such as ultramarathon and enduro? It is almost more complicated for a coach: you tell him that you want to do both, but he needs to know which one you want to compete. For me, it's simple. I like to go by bike and I run what I feel like. Enduro and Ultramraton are not similar, but I have been able to combine it. In the ultramarathon you put your own rhythm and you have to forget your rivals for 10 or 12 hours. Pedales in solitude for a long time. In Enduro you do your section, but then agree with other companions until the next descent comes, you comment your sensations, etc. In both modalities I have made good friends. How do you live the rise of female cycling? There are more and more girls and brands care more about offering articles that we like. The clearest example is clothes. 20 years ago there were hardly girls for girls; They simply did not adapt to our morphology. There are still some differences, which look more in road cycling than in MTB. It shows that they invest more resources for boys than for girls. The will is to go matching, even if I hope it was a little faster. As for the number of cyclists, I do see more girls practicing road and grave, than MTB, and I don't know why ... Cycling is for me a way of living and a passion. If you like it, you like the whole life you have. A point has come that I don't want to try more bikes; I try bike, bike that I love and that I want to squeeze. The same mountain, that road, as urban, that FixieHow you organize to train. How do you reconcile your work in banking with cycling practice? Of course, I depend on my work schedule. Normally, the weekend I take advantage of, so Monday rest. On Tuesdays and Wednesday I do quality training. On Thursday, a little more filming and since Friday I squeeze again. That as a general rule, although then depends on the racing calendar. I always train in the afternoon. In winter it is hard because training at night is very uphill. That is why I try to go out in a group; Thus it is much easier to fulfill when the forces falter. In summer it is different because I have 5 to 10 at night to train. That is why my point optimally is in September-October. Anyway, when you have a career in sight you have to go alone because you should concentrate on very specific training. What are your bikes? Being Orbea Ambassador ... Indeed, they are all orbea. The one that most employment is the orbea Alma, the rigid mountain: by sensations, lightness ... you feel the bike a lot, which is very cool. In the descents you have to work much more the body, climbing is very agile ... I carry it mounted with 34 teeth dish. The Oiz (double) also uses, especially in stages competitions, in which the back is loaded more. I also use it a lot to train in the Collserla (Barcelona) area, which is full of technical zones. In addition, with the 120 mm of route that it has mounted it is very versatile. Any more bike? Clear! For Enduro I use the Orbea Rallon, with a plate 32. On the road, I always carry the Orbea orca. I have it assembled with a 39-52, but I want to return to Compact. As for the Terra (Orbea Grange Model), I use it to do some pisteo, but I have not yet enjoyed it. I want to get more thoroughly in the world of grave. Perhaps soon make some getaway through the Girona area, which is one of the best areas for this modality. Ah, and to work I go in a katu, with motor. The first times are always special. I keep a brutal memory of my victory in the Spanish championship on the track when I was 15 or 16 years old. I also remember the Spanish championship on the 1997 route, where I was second behind Merche Cagigas. There were several laps to a circuit, but it was not clear if we were going to give three or four. He told myself: "If there are three, I win." But in the end there were four and won Merche. I also keep a spectacular memory of the European Ultramarathon Championship that I won. There were 215 km and 6,000 m of unevenness. He was very afraid and rained from the first kilometer. Above, I broke the shell. There were a lot of adversities, but I felt physically so strong that I managed everything very well. And any recent challenge that has impacted you especially? Of the most recent, without a doubt, the Camí de Cavalls 360º Non-Stop, in 2021. A complete return to the island of Menorca for one of the most beautiful, and most technical tours, which I have done in MTB in my life. I was alone with the GPS, with the sea in sight all the time ... a brutal memory.

When you go down from the bike, would you define yourself like a bicycle friqui? As Fiqui, cars reports flip. As for a bike, I like to ride than to know everything about cycling. Sometimes they begin to explain things that I have even asked and I ended up disconnecting. The sensation of pedaling is one of the things that makes me the hardest. I can be sad or angry, but walking by bike changes my character. I would spend the day by bike; I would like the day to have more hours to walk more and more by bicycle. And are you very fanatic of innovations that are introduced into the world of bicycle? The telescopic shell! As a cyclist, I am better technically than physically. That is, low better than I upload and I always resisted the telescopic shell. In part, to save some weight, that does obsess me. But when I made the Camí de Cavalls I realized that this was crazy. I tried the shell and I will never remove it. You need a couple of weeks of adaptation, but once the tests no longer remove it.
