Canyon is the bicycle manufacturer that equips the Movistar Team. Among its reference models for road cycling are Canyon Aerad and Canyon Ultimate with which Alejandro Valverde was proclaimed world champion.
The German brand completes its road range with the
Canyon harden, one of the most demanded models within the great background bicycle segment, designed to provide a comfortable and efficient shot in large classic and long days on top of the bicycle.
I have done more than 15,000 kilometers in the last 2 years with a Canyon hardening and I can confirm its comfort and reliability, although not everything is joys, at least in the 2019 hardening air model.
Points to stand out from Canyon harden
The version I have tried is the tightening CF SL 8.0 Aero. It is equipped as standard with the complete group Shimano Ultegra R8000, Integrated Carbon Handlebar and Power, Carbon Reynolds Wheels with 41 mm. in profile and the famous car carbon washing
Canyon.
With this equipment level it has an output price of 3,399 euros. It is a good price, taking into account that other similar great fund bicycles, such as the
MMR Miracle, they have a higher sales price with a similar assembly.
Canyon H31 handlebar and power
The only negative note that can be put to the set of integrated handlebars and power of the Canyon Indourace is its cost. But only if you buy it apart. For the rest, this H31 of Canyon wins by win over the sets of handlebars and conventional powers, even those of a aer.
The upper grip offers an extreme comfort, accompanied by Canyon's Ergospeed Gel tape.
The ultegra len offers the same ergonomics as in the 2018 model, and the "below" grip gives greater comfort, since the curve is somewhat more closed than in the handlebars that we can find in the bicycles of a regular great background.
Canyon S15 Vcls 2.0
It is really comfortable and an essential investment. A award for a great background bicycle must be, at least carbon. The partial absorption of the irregularities of the land is something that the cyclist will appreciate from the first kilometer.
Let us not forget that we are not talking about a Racing type bicycle, but of a model designed to shoot hours and hours looking for fun as the first objective, despite the fact that training and cycatourist marches are always present.
Ruedas Reynolds AR41 dB
This is a negative point of the Canyon Indourace CF SL 8.0 Aero. The Reynolds carbon wheels that it brings as standard are comfortable to climb, and given its rounded 41 millimeter profile they do not suffer too much with side wind. However, they do suffer from torsions.
This has a clear consequence. The lateral tensions derived from stresses, such as raising a grip to the handles to full machine, are distributed from the handles and covered to the radios.
At this point it is where these wheel float, since the radiated Aero is more sensitive in this model than in other bicycles of great background, and these radios jump through the air despite carrying out due maintenance. In the first 6,000 kilometers I made with the bicycle I suffered two broken radios and their corresponding scares.
It should be noted that this conclusion has been reached after talking about the subject with two trusted mechanics. They are comfortable, light and elegant wheels, but they present a reliability problem that, although it can be punctual, must be mentioned.
Ultegra R8000 Group
Guarantee of success, there is no doubt about it. The quality and resistance of this group, both at the level of changes and brakes, is unquestionable.
A supervantic group, which although it does not seem to have much to offer the average cyclist with respect to the acclaimed Shimano 105 in performance, does provide us with interesting weight and much more comfortable handles. The operation of the disc brakes is simply perfect.
The transmission ratio mounted in this model is 52-36 in dishes, and a 11-34 cassette. More than enough to face loss with pedaling at 60km/h, and uploaded up to 20% inclination.
Continental covers GP 4000 II in 28mm
In this case we talk about a most commercial and recognized model, although the experience of the writing is not too good. Several punctures on the rear wheel and a lateral slit on the front wheel, in nine months of use.
While it is true that there is no 100% reliable quality control, the experience has been bad. This paragraph must be taken more as an anecdote than as a advice, but of course my intention is to try other models, such as the Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless.
On the celebrities 28mm, we will talk in another post. It is an issue that deserves separate analysis, although I can advance my total satisfaction.
Weight is not your best asset
Brands do not usually like to talk about pesos due to the unfair comparisons between models of different manufacturers, with different montages and different qualities of paintings.
It is not the case of Canyon, which indicates to us in the technical file of this bicycle that its weight is 7.9 kilos without pedals. It is not a low weight, of course, but this is not a fact that the potential buyer of the hardship CF can change your mind. It seeks comfort, reliability and aesthetics, not performance.
CANYON INUREACE CONCLUSIONS
In short, Canyon Indourace is a model recognized for comfort and benefits, which although it leaves aside the weight as a sales argument, plays in favor of aesthetics and quality/price, where it seems to be unbeatable seeing its assemblies.
The hardship CF SL box has several years already in the market, and this tells us how the German brand has opted for it, without making great changes in inventions quirky. It is a beautiful and robust painting, which accompanied by the appropriate components makes this Canyon hardening CF a bicycle for many many years of fun.
