Routes to go by mountain bike in the province of Las Palmas

Las Palmas is one of the two provinces in which the Canary Islands are divided. In its territory, the most east islands of the archipers are included, specifically Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa. It is also the most populous province of the Canary Islands and also the one that has some of the greatest examples of Canarian volcanic landscape. Crossing these mountain bike places is a unique experience within our country, impossible to see in the Peninsula. On the island of Las Palmas, its famous cliffs, cannons and boilers of the most mountainous area of ​​the island, the center can also be traveled by bike. While in Lanzarote it is possible to get lost along the paths of the Timanfaya National Park, one of the most overwhelming volcanic places in the Canary Islands. The routes that we present can be done throughout the year, thanks to the stable and benign climate of the islands. It will only be necessary to pay attention to the days of Calima, especially in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, which will make breathing more complicated and accelerate the hydration process. Thus, we will have to carry more water than usual and hydrate more frequently.

Tirajana Canyon Route

This route runs through the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana from South to North from Playa del Inglés to the protected place of Fataga inside the island. The first 18 kilometers are constantly uploaded although of soft slopes until reaching the most mountainous area of ​​the route, which we cross between precious volcanic dark stone cannons. A route that combines coastal landscapes with deep valleys and mountain in volcanic terrain that can only be seen in the Canary Islands.

Guiniguada Barranco Route

A broken route and path around Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the most populous city in the entire archipelago. We go back the course of the ravine that is born in the center of the island of Gran Canaria at 1,850 m altitude to lead to the city. A tour with a hard climb of 2 kilometers shortly after leaving the city, followed by a succession of repeches and land breaks legs by the Giles and Tamaraceite. At the height of kilometer 30 the descent through the back of the horseshoe begins, back to the city.

Timanfaya Route

Lanzarote is the second most populated island in the province of Las Palmas and the closest to the African continent of the entire Canarian archipelago. It stands out above all for its volcanic landscape and for housing one of the most spectacular national parks throughout Spain, Timanfaya. It is possible to travel the island from South to North on a marathon circular route, starting in Puerto del Carmen and climbing to the park area by Mácher, and crossing the volcanic landscape of the mountains of fire. On the way back the route crosses the vineyards of Geria, a curious plantation of vineyards on volcanic land that gives rise to the White Wine Malvasía, one of the gastronomic symbols of the island.
