Medieval Empordà Stage Route
Through this route you can know thoroughly the entire Empordà region, visiting many of the most representative villages in the area, both in the interior and the Costa Brava. This route is divided into two stages, of moderate difficulty in the physical and simple in the technical. The most broken and breaking area will be that of the coast, both at the end of the first stage and at the beginning of the second.
Very well preserved medieval peoples are crossed as Monells or Pertallada and picturesque villages of coast such as Llafranc or Calella de Palafrugell. This two -stage route can be done at any time of the year.
This simple but beautiful tour joins two of the most important towns of the Cerdanya region, at the gates of the Pyrenees. The route runs to one side and another from the Franco-Spanish border, leaving from Puigcerdà, in Spanish territory, step to France by Bourg-Madame and entry again in Spain in the enclave of Llivia.
From Llivia he returns to France again and then crosses the Spanish border again to return to Puigcerdà. During the route it is rolls surrounded by the plains of the Segre Valley and the snowy peaks of the Pyrenees, which in spring stand out for their green and flourished stamp. The route is affordable both in the physical and technical appearance.
He Natural Park of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone It is the most important volcanic enclave of the Iberian Peninsula, with up to 10 craters and 23 cones very well preserved. The park also has a special, more oceanic climate than medieterrane, in which rains abound and where some of the most leafy and best preserved forests can be found in all of Catalonia.
On this route that we propose through the Garrotxa region we will pass through the Hayedo de Jordà, which we recommend visiting in autumn coinciding with the fall of the sheet, the medieval people of the Santa Pau or the water jumps of Can Catlle.
The tour has its most complicated part at the beginning, between Olot and the Santa Pau, with a jalonado land of repeches. But after overcoming this town the layout becomes more favorable until we reach Banyoles, where we will finish the route bordering its famous lake.
