Traffic standards expressly prohibit bicycle circular on highways. However, in South Korea a creative way of allowing cyclists can also take advantage of this type of roads to go from one city to another. And they have also done so incorporating environmental sustainability criteria.

On the highway that connects the cities of Daejeon and Sejon, the Koreans have built a bike lane in the median that separates the two senses from the circulation. In this way cyclists can pedal on the highway without fear of being hit by a car.

In addition, this bike lane is covered by solar panels throughout the route that fulfill a double function: on the one hand they protect the cyclists from rain and weather inclement and, on the other, they contribute to environmental sustainability generating electricity from A clean and ecological form.
