CAMPAGNO CHANGE GROUPS FOR ROAD CYCLISM

CAMPAGNO CHANGE GROUPS FOR ROAD CYCLISM

Campagnolo is a living history of cycling. The Italian company has been manufacturing bicycle components for almost 100 years, with innovative designs and a product development always linked to the competition. Great champions such as Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault or Miguel Induráin have won Tours of France with Campagnolo groups and wheels. This close relationship with professional cyclists is currently maintained, although the brand has also launched specific products adapted to the amateur cyclist and booming for booming disciplines, such as the new EKAR for Gravel. However, Campagnolo's offer is more oriented to medium and high ranges, with an elitist touch both in design and operation. Below we show you the entire range of brand groups, from least to greater exclusivity.

CAMPAGNOLO CENTAUR

Campagnolo has reduced its range of transmission groups to only 11 and 12 speeds. The offer starts with Centaur, an 11 -speed group that replaces the Veloce or Athena and that could be considered mid -range within the market, even being the most economical group of the brand. Inherits the design of the high -record high -end group, although the components are heavier. The change is also inspired by record and super record technology, with a redesigned change trajectory of 45º, fiberglass reinforcement pieces to increase its resistance and compatibility with cassettes of up to 32 teeth. Another peculiarity of this group is that it does not include an album brake game, just from Zapata. For its part, the 11-speed Centaur cassette is available in three different ranges: 11-32, 12-32 and 11-29. Cyclist type: Middle cycling. Development options: 2x11. Rivals on the market: Shimano 105, Rival Sram.

CAMPAGNOLO CHORUS

The Campagnolo Chorus is the first and only group with 12 -speed mid -range cassette for road bike. It was born just two seasons ago and it is a strong commitment to the Italian house that, combined with the double dish, offers the cyclist a progressivity of change never seen before, with less perceptible leaps that make them maintain for longer the same cadence of pedaling . The chorus is the affordable version in 12 speeds of the high -end groups of Campagnolo, Record and Super Record. It only has a mechanical option, but it offers a very prominent speed of change, thanks to the inclusion of ultra-shift technology. This is the name of the internal change mechanism of the rear diverter, capable of climbing 3 crowns, and lowering 5, touching the button only once. It also has the Ergopower Manets, present in the Record Groups, with a special design to handle with the fair effort. In this sense, the change buttons have optimized their design, with a larger surface to facilitate the change of gears. Likewise, their connecting rods with carbon arm, a real luxury in a mid -range group. But the great star of this chorus is its 12 crowns cassette, whose main claim is that it has the same width as that of 11 V, so it is compatible with the vast majority of wheels on the market. It is available in three different development ranges: 11-29, 11-32 and 11-34. Cyclist type: Medium-high level cycling Development options: 2x12. Rivals on the market: Shimano Ultegra, Sram Force.

CAMPAGNOLO RECORD

To identify it more accurately, the record is the entrance group to the high performance of Campagnolo. It is recommended for cyclists who demand precision and reliability of the components without excessive economic disbursement. The record, like the chorus or the Super Record group, is offered exclusively in 2x12 configuration. The arms of the connecting rods are carbon and aluminum dishes are available with 50/34, 52/36 and 53/39 developments. The front diversor, on the other hand, lightens its weight with respect to the chorus, while maintaining its effectiveness and speed of change. The same goes for the rear, whose upper roldana, of 12 teeth, is now installed closer to the crowns to increase the speed and softness of change. The 12 V cassette, on the other hand, offers the same compatibility as that of the chorus, adapting to 10 and 11 v wheel cores. The development ranges it offers are the same as the chorus: 11-29, 11-32 and 11-34. Finally, the Ergopower of Campagnolo Record handles have a double curvature to be able to act comfortably, without losing support in the handlebar. The buttons are also Ultra-Shift to go up or down several crowns at the same time and have the One Lever -one Action mode with a single function (change the plate or change crown) by button. It is achieved thanks to the movement of the lever to the left (rise crown or plate) and right (lower crown or plate). The record is offered in two variants: one with Zapata brakes and another with records. Cyclist type: High, professional level cycling. Development options: 2x12. Rivals on the market: Shimano Ultegra, Sram Red

CAMPAGNOLO SUPER RECORD

We finally arrive at the cusp of mechanical groups of Campagnolo, the Super Record. Direct competition of the Dura-Ace Shimano or the SRAM Red, is the group that have used many professional equipment, before the generalized implementation of electronic change in the squad, which has displaced it a bit. The Super Record has been in the market for more than 40 years and has a long development linked to the competition behind it. The current version has already adopted the 2x12 configuration, in addition to further lightening the weight of its pieces without losing efficiency in change. It has also evolved towards a safer and fast exchange rate, thanks to bringing the roldana superior to the smallest crowns, a technology that has inherited the lower record version. In addition, it has a unfolded connecting rod system that improves the use of 24 speeds to make the most of any combination, adapting to any percentage of rise. The connecting rods are available with the same combination of dishes as the record (50/34, 52/36 and 53/39), while carbon fiber arms are made with hollow interior design Hollow Technology, similar to Shimano Hollowtech forged , that lightens the weight. The savings of a set-plates of the Super Record is approximately 80 grams with respect to the lower Record series. Finally, the handles incorporate, in addition to the double curvature design and the One Lever -one Action mode, an adjustment of the brake lever in two positions, for normal hands and normal hands. It is possible thanks to a screw or bolt located at the top of the handle that can be moved inside (small hands) or leave in focused position (normal hands). In this practical video tutorial of Campagnolo it is possible to see all the installation and functions steps of the Super Record group, which also are worth for the rest of the 12 V mechanical transmissions of the brand (chorus and record). Cyclist type: professional. Development options: 2x12. Rivals on the market: Shimano Dura-Ace, SRAM Red.

Super Record EPS

Finally, we arrive at the most exclusive group of the current range of Campagnolo, the Electronic Super Record EPS. Proven in World Tour team competition such as Movistar, UAE or Lotto-Soudal, it presents as a similar operation a cable system such as the Dura-Ace Shimano. Two small watertight engines in both deviant, a long -lasting battery that can be integrated into the shell and a switchboard that is placed below the power or in the horizontal tube are the basic elements of the system. But the electronic change of Campagnolo adds exclusive functions such as the possibility of raising or lowering several crowns at the same time, and adjusting how many they will do, through multishifting technology. The number of crowns can be adjusted through the MY Campy app, a mobile digital interface that can be connected to the group by Bluetooth connection. In addition, another solution that makes this group unique is the presence of a magnetic sensor in both deviators. Precisely captures the position of the chain with respect to the teeth of the crown or dish to automatically adjust, if it has any deviation or moves very crossed. On the other hand, it incorporates the Unlock System, a function of unlocking of electronic change that, in case the system fails, the cyclist can change to its preferred march manually to be able to finish the route. Apart from the deviators and controls, the rest of the group components (connecting, cassette, chain and brakes) are the same as the super record. And like the rest of 12 V transmissions, the nucleus used by the cassette is the same as the 10 and 11 v. As a negative point when opting for the electronic or mechanical option, the first is heavier, 180 g in the record with disc brakes, in addition to more expensive. But carbon and titanium manufacturing of several pieces of deviators, as well as carbon cranks, make the weight of the weight not decisive. Cyclist type: professional. Development options: 2x12. Rivals on the market: Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, SRAM Red ETAP.
