Routes to go by mountain bike in the province of Guipúzcoa
Guipúzcoa is synonymous with green landscapes, quiet mountains and endless paths to practice any modality of the Mountain Bike. A breaking territory to bicycle that also offers unforgettable snapshots on each route.
We travel the smallest province in Spain, only 1,997 km square, through three representative routes: the coast of San Sebastián, La Guipúzcoa Rural from the Goierri and the surroundings of the Zarautz coast with the payment of payment and the hamlets of Aia
Recommended to be provided with showers, since we are in one of the rainiest areas in Spain, with a changing climate and soft temperatures throughout the year.
Route El Goierri
Circular route affordable by one of the most beautiful Guipuzcoan regions, the most significant example of the landscapes of the Rural Euskadi. It travels some of the most important peoples of Goierri (Ordizia, Lazkao, Ataún, etc.), in the south of the province, and with some of the highest mountains in the entire Basque Country (Sierra de Aralar and Aizkorri).
We now travel to the Guipuzcoan coast to tour one of the areas where cycling is breathed, that of Mount Jaizkibel, located halfway between San Sebastián and Hondarribia, already near the border between Spain and France.
This demanding MTB route faces Jaizkibel's rise from the Lazo's slope, obtaining views of the Cantabrian Sea and the green landscapes of the unique Basque Coast. The route includes in its second part the descent on the ridge of the mountain, with very funny singletracks and technicians that require a certain level of handling with the bike. Some of the sections are road, but the paths and descent of Jaizkibel make these anodine stretches through the asphalt.
We move more to the west, south of Zarautz, to travel by bicycle one of the most attractive guipúzcoa rural areas, that of the hayedos of the Natural Payment Park. In this short journey but breaking around the park's environment we will cross attractive paths between lush beech forests, highlands of wins and rural roads of great beauty, marked by the typical Basque hamlets, where nature and tranquility are breathed.
