A few days ago we shared key tips for tackling the Quebrantahuesos, the legendary cycling tour that crosses the Pyrenees between Spain and France. This year, the event celebrates its 25th anniversary and, as every edition, thousands of cyclists will start the race next June 20. Among them are great legends of cycling and renowned athletes from other disciplines who have made this carrera a personal challenge.

An iconic event for road and mountain bike lovers
The Quebrantahuesos Gran Fondo is a 200 km event with a challenging route that crosses four major mountain passes: Somport, Marie Blanque, Portalet and Hoz de Jaca. It is one of the most demanding rides for those looking to test their endurance on road bikes, traveling through spectacular landscapes and facing extreme elevation changes.
For those who prefer less demanding routes or are looking for an alternative challenge with mountain bikes, the sister event Treparriscos Medio Fondo offers a 85 km route, maintaining the essence of the Quebrantahuesos, but with less distance and elevation.
Next, we review some of the most illustrious names who will participate in this edition.

Miguel Indurain: a legend on the road bike
He needs no introduction: Miguel Indurain, five-time winner of the Tour de France and two-time champion of the Giro d'Italia, is a regular at the Quebrantahuesos. In 2000, the event paid tribute to him, and in this XXV edition he will wear bib number No. 2. The Navarrese will once again ride the 200 km
from the Quebrantahuesos Gran Fondo, becoming an inspiration for all participants. Riding alongside one of the greatest idols of cycling is, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience for any fan.Chechu Rubiera: the climber who shone in the grand tours
Another big name that will be at the Quebrantahuesos is Chechu Rubiera, a former cyclist from Asturias and one of the most outstanding domestiques of Lance Armstrong. Rubiera participated in 22 grand tours throughout his carrera, leaving his mark on La Vuelta, the Giro d'Italia, and the Tour de France. On the upcoming June 20th, he will once again face the tough Pyrenean passes of this prestigious event.
Abraham Olano: the world champion who challenges the Pyrenees
Among the participants of the XXV Quebrantahuesos will also be Abraham Olano, double world champion in road cycling and time trial. Famous for his explosiveness on road bikes, Olano has already participated in previous editions of the event and will once again enjoy the adrenaline and spectacular landscapes offered by the carrera.
Edurne Pasaban: the mountaineer who conquers the road
Not only elite cyclists participate in the Quebrantahuesos. This year, one of the most outstanding female figures will be Edurne Pasaban, the first woman to climb the 14 eight-thousanders (the highest mountains in the world, including Everest, Manaslu, and Nanga Parbat). In her last participation, Edurne completed the event in a little over 10 hours, showing that her endurance goes beyond mountaineering.

David Albelda: from football to cycling
The former footballer David Albelda, recognized as one of the best Spanish midfielders of recent decades, will also return to the Quebrantahuesos. Passionate about cycling since childhood, Albelda comes from a family of professional cyclists and has found in this sport a new challenge after his retirement from football.
A legendary challenge for the most demanding cyclists
The Quebrantahuesos is much more than a cycling tour: it is an event that brings together thousands of cycling enthusiasts, from amateurs to world champions, in a challenge where endurance, strategy, and the love of the sport are the real protagonists. Whether you prefer road bikes to tackle the toughest mountain passes or mountain bikes to enjoy less conventional terrains, this event is the perfect stage to challenge yourself.
