Why choose a Lee Cougan bicycle?

Lee Cougan, is one of the parents of mountain bicycles, a brand with a rich story that stands out for its unique approach to innovation. This approach is based on a balance between performance, comfort, exploration and respect for the environment, which is evidenced in its environmental impact reduction technologies. Its constant improvement and development of components seek to maximize the performance of each bicycle and adapt to the specific needs of each cyclist.

Lee Cougan and his history of passion for the mountain

It was the 1970s when a handful of dreamers decided that the endless roads no longer offered them the emotion they were looking for with their bicycles. They longed to build all -terrain bicycles that allow them to dive into nature. Therefore, they began to transform old "cruiser" bicycles with better brakes, motor and wide tires to cross the steep routes of California. These bicycles were called "Klunkers", and "To Klunk" became the verb that symbolized the still non -existent mountain cycling activity.

Among this group of enthusiasts was Mr. Lee, a Russian man of curious and entrepreneurial nature. In 1977, in Evanston (Illinois), he decided to create his own brand to market his bicycles. His passion for cycling led him to develop niche vanguard products for his cycling boutiques.

Thus was born the Lee Cougan brand, the result of the inventive and experience of Mr. Lee. He himself designed the bicycles and then commissioned the manufacture of the paintings in Taiwan, which later assembled in the United States, giving life to high -tech and performance solutions.

Mr. Lee personally visited manufacturers to supervise production and guarantee the quality of their work. He chose the name Cougan for his similarity with Puma, one of the emblematic animals of American nature. The mountain cycling culture soon expanded beyond US borders.

At the same time, in Italy, in the northeast of the country, Stardue "Active Sport Equipment" was founded, a company dedicated from the 80s to the commercialization of bicycles and accessories for bicycles and motorcycles. In search of something more flexible and customizable than high -end American and Italian brands that distributed, in 1993, Stardue brought Lee Cougan to Europe.

After a few years of collaboration in products designed by Mr. Lee, Stardue had the opportunity to modify the designs to adapt them to the European market. Thus, Lee Cougan was able to access high -end components when operating in two different markets, and the direct assembly in Europe made the most accessible products in terms of price for more fans.

Since the late nineties, Stardue began designing models internally and, with the approval of Mr. Lee, the bicycles "Lee Cougan Europe" became increasingly high -end and performance -oriented. The collaboration with Mr. Lee continued until the end of the last century, at which time the brand changed hands. Since then, Stardue has managed the products of the Lee Cougan brand worldwide, making it an Italian brand in all aspects.

Lee Cougan began to develop a wide range of products capable of adapting to various markets thanks to a high innovation rate. It quickly became a niche brand that offered high quality at a competitive price, especially compared to American mountain cycling giants.

Lee Cougan's visibility jump occurred when participating in the Camel Trophy in Mongolia in 1997, and then in Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia in 1998. There, between the hardness of the Gobi desert and the frozen landscapes of southern Argentina, the Brand bicycles demonstrated their quality, performance and reliability even in the most extreme conditions.

The company was one of the first to offer cyclists the possibility of customizing their bicycles from the moment of the order, with the "Make Your Custom Bike" service. This helped distinguish Lee Cougan developing modular bicycles that adapted to the customer application.

Advantages of buying a reconditioned Lee Cougan bicycle

Buying a reconditioned bicycle is an excellent option fundamentally for three reasons:

The first is economic savings. Buying a second -hand bicycle reconditioned in Tuvalum you get a saving between 20% and up to 60% compared to its new price.

The second reason is mechanical certification. You can buy a second -hand Lee Cougan Bicycle to an individual, but most websites and apps of used products do not offer any guarantee about the state of the items they sell and you have to trust that a stranger does not sell you a bicycle with damage hidden. In Tuvalum all bicycles are reviewed and reconditioned by our mechanical team with 1 year mechanical guarantee and with 18 -month repurchase guarantee. In addition, our mechanics ensure that each reconditioned bicycle meets the same technical requirements and approval that the European Union requires new bicycles.

Another weight of weight to buy a reconditioned Lee Cougan Bicycle is its sustainable impact. Being a bicycle that has already been manufactured, you save the environmental footprint that would generate a new bicycle. Did you know that manufacturing a bicycle generates a carbon footprint of 300 kilos of CO2?
