Tarragona is an ideal destination for cycling enthusiasts, as it offers a wide variety of terrain perfect for both mountain bikes and road bikes. In just a few kilometers, the province combines mountain routes in the north with flat areas in the center and south, allowing you to explore spectacular spots on two wheels.

If you prefer mountain biking, Tarragona offers you incredible options:

  • Priorat: Known for its wines and medieval villages, this region is perfect for mountain bike routes with technical trails and terraced vineyard landscapes.
  • Prades Mountains: A must-visit destination for MTB fans, with valleys, gorges, and pure downhill routes.
  • Montsià Range: Ideal for enduro cyclists, with exciting descents and panoramic views of the Mediterranean.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a smoother experience on a road bike, Tarragona also has spectacular routes:

  • Ebro Delta: This natural paradise offers rolling routes without major slopes, crossing rice fields and lagoons with unique biodiversity.
  • Priorat secondary roads: An essential route for road cyclists, with gentle curves and impressive views among vineyards and mountains.

Whether you're seeking the adrenaline of mountain biking or long road bike routes, Tarragona has the perfect setting to enjoy cycling at any time of the year.

Montsant Massif Route

The Montsant marks the northern boundary of the Priorat region, one of the most important wine areas in all of Catalonia and also in Spain. We propose a challenging route through the most famous mountain massif in the province, the Montsant, full of perfectly bikeable roads and trails, although a certain level of physical and technical ability will be necessary to tackle them. The effort is worth it for the scenery and some of the villages you visit, such as La Morera del Montsant, La Bisbal de Falset, or La Figuera. The route can be done in one day, although it may be very exhausting, or in two, over a whole weekend.

Prades Mountains Route

In addition to Montsant, the Prades mountains are another of the mountain systems in the province of Tarragona, with peaks that exceed 1,000 meters and valleys with plateaus and impressive cliffs surrounded by forests, among which run the valleys of the Bruguent and Siurana rivers. The terrain is perfect for off-road routes, with many climbs and descents, some technical sections, and visits to charming villages like Siurana, perched on the top of a mountain on a giant limestone rock from which you can see a unique panoramic view of the region, the Siurana river, and its reservoir.

La Foradada Descent Route

At the southernmost tip of the Ebro Delta, from Sant Carles de la Ràpita, this attractive Enduro route begins. It is short but features a descent of almost 7 kilometers that will delight fans of this discipline or DH. We climb the Sierra del Montsià, one of the many mountain ranges on the Catalan coast situated parallel to the sea, always offering unparalleled views over the Mediterranean. The descent is challenging and requires a good technical level, as well as a full-suspension bike to better handle all the rocky and drop sections you'll encounter along the trail. It's a circular climb and descent route, full of adrenaline, and one you'll want to repeat if you enjoy mountain bike descents.
