Last weekend the 2016 edition of the Unibike Fair took place, the largest meeting point for brands, manufacturers and distributors in the cycling sector in Spain. And as happens every year since the fair began in 2014, the big brands took advantage of the event for the presentation of their novelties for the 2017 season.
If last year the most widespread trend was the exile of the mountain bicycles of 26 "and the total commitment to those of 29", this year manufacturers seem to definitely bet on electric bicycles. Almost all brands had several models in their exhibitors, both for mountain cycling and for urban cycling.
And not only bicycles seem to the race to position themselves as referents in the distribution of e-bikes. Also component houses and other parallel companies seem to have found a reef in this segment. Different battery and kits convertible kits paraded through Unibike and transforming it into electric.

E-bikes come to stay
All this indicates that throughout 2017 the presence of electric bicycles in the catalogs of large brands and in cycling stores will go more. One of the manufacturers who bet most in Unibike for showing its electric muscle was BH.
But, in general, it was difficult to find a brand of top-10 of cycling that did not have an electric bicycle reference in its stand.

Without leaving the mountain segment, one of the novelties that attracted the most attention was the extended presence of the new 12V SRAM change group. The brands have decided to equip their highest range models with the latest innovation of the North American group. It is striking not only because of the number of crowns, which goes from 11 to 12, but also because both the cassette and the chain of this group have a striking gold color.
Is there really so much difference between an 11V group and this new 12V? Until we try it we will not be able to emit a verdict. In this type of fairs it is usual to find small manufacturers that leave conventional materials and have a range of bicycles built with bamboo or wood. In this last edition of Unibike what caught the attention were the Basalto de Racormance fiber bicycles.
The basalt is a volcanic mineral with flexion properties superior to those of carbon. A group of Sevillian engineers launched the possibility of using it as a raw material for the manufacture of paintings and components, and the result is the Racormance company, which prepares customized cadres to the extent of each cyclist and light bei with a high degree of flexibility.
