While some Spaniards enjoy rest, the beach, or their hometown, many triathletes take advantage of August to fine-tune their physical condition. With September packed with key events from the national triathlon calendar, those who compete in this sport know that the holidays can be the perfect time to log kilometers on the bike, improve their swimming, and maintain a performance-focused diet. Whether with road bikes to prepare for long distances, or with mountain bikes for those tackling more technical routes, August has become the key month for preparation.

August is synonymous with vacations... or with training for September.

Ironman Mallorca – September 26
With 2,500 triathletes and more than 50 nationalities, the Ironman Mallorca is one of the major events of September. Swimming in open water, cycling 180 km around the island in a single loop, and finishing with a full marathon requires total preparation. With 50 qualifying slots for the Hawaii World Championship, Alcúdia becomes the epicenter of long-distance triathlon.

Madrid KM0 Triathlon – September 27
The month closes in style with the inaugural edition of the KM0 Triathlon, a full Ironman race that brings the finish line to the heart of Madrid: the Puerta del Sol. The start will be at the Riosequillo Reservoir, and the 180 km cycling route includes legendary mountain passes such as Navacerrada, Cotos, and Morcuera, with a total elevation gain of 3,000 meters. This race is not only a physical challenge, but a unique experience that combines nature, city, and a passion for triathlon.
September is the month of truth for triathletes.
While others relax, many take advantage of every day in August to train, adjust their bike position, try out new wheels, or perfect their transitions. Because the real summer for a triathlete begins when they put on their bib number and the clock starts.
