Ourense stands out for its countless rivers, mountains, and valleys, being one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain. Its rugged terrain makes it an ideal destination for mountain bike lovers, offering endless mountain bike routes suitable for all levels.

One of the main reference points for cyclists is the Ribeira Sacra MTB Center, a space dedicated to promoting cycle tourism and the natural landscapes of the province. This center features signposted routes that allow you to explore the most iconic places in Ourense by bike, from the impressive canyons of the Miño and Sil rivers to charming towns such as Ribadavia, Castrelo de Miño, or Ginzo de Limia.

In addition, the provincial capital is an attraction in itself, not only for its historical heritage but also for its famous natural and artificial hot springs, located on the banks of the Miño River. A perfect experience to relax after a day riding the best mountain bike routes.

Route through the Ribeira Sacra

The Ribeira Sacra is one of the main attractions of the province of Ourense and it is almost a must to visit it by mountain bike. It comprises the banks of the Miño, Sil, and Cabe rivers, with their spectacular canyons as the main draw of the area. This route stops at some of the area's viewpoints, offering spectacular views of the Sil river canyons and villages like Luintra, Cerreda, or the Monastery of San Esteban de Ribas de Sil, from the 10th century and now converted into the Parador de Turismo of the Ribeira Sacra. The route is challenging due to its significant elevation gain, reaching 1,682 meters, and is part of the Ribeira Sacra MTB Center's route program.

Ribadavia Route

This route is part of the BTT Ribadavia ride, which traverses the Ribeiro region, characterized by its deep valleys around the Miño, Avia, or Arnoia rivers. It is a trail route through forests and tough slopes that repeatedly climb the Miño river valley. The second part of the route goes around the Castrelo de Miño reservoir, famous for its water sports activities.

Manzaneda Route

A high mountain MTB route through the central massif of Ourense, specifically the Manzaneda mountains with peaks exceeding 1,700 meters in altitude. The Cabeza de Manzaneda ski resort is located here. This route also covers the lower part of the mountains with a constant up and down profile that accumulates more than 1,100 meters of elevation gain over 40 kilometers. A unique opportunity to discover one of Galicia's most attractive high mountain corners.
