Routes to go by mountain bike in the province of Córdoba
Córdoba is a province with great fondness for cycling. A land that is worth knowing with pedal's blow, both in its mountains of the north and southeast and in its plagued plains of olive trees. In addition, you cannot stop visiting the capital, with its impressive historical and artistic set of Arab legacy.
We propose three representative routes of the province that run through the surroundings of the city of Córdoba, the subbetic mountains on the old oil train layout and a bandoleros land journey in Sierra Morena. Places with a lot of charm and Andalusian flavor that nevertheless we recommend you at any time of the year other than summer, due to the high temperatures of the area.
Route through the Sierra de Córdoba
This route will discover the best paths of the Sierra Cordobesa, close to the provincial capital. Many of the paths are those used in the test of the Andalusia Bike Race, like the slope of the burst that we are at the beginning of the route.
We visit places of interest such as the Cortijo del Caño or the source of the elephant. The pine forests and the vegetation of Monte Mediterráneo will accompany you on this route that we recommend in spring and autumn, for the climate and green of the Andalusian countryside.
A very attractive marathon type MTB route through the heart of Andalusia, with medium difficulty. It covers the signposted route of the Green Via de la Subbética, to the southeast of the province. The route begins in the Viaduct of the Guadajoz River, a spectacular iron and concrete bridge suspended on the river where the old oil train passed.
Luque, Zuheros, Doña Mencía or Lucena, populations with a rich history, architecture and gastronomy are visited. In addition, the landscapes of Sierra from the Subbética Natural Park or natural reserves such as that of the Laguna del Soobral are crossed. A tour of high landscape and cultural value.
To the north of the province of Córdoba is Cardeña, a small town that has one of the ideal natural environments to go by bike, such as the Natural Park of the Sierra de Cardeña and Montoro, in the middle of Sierra Morena.
A land that was once home to bandits and outlaws is now a beautiful mountain environment, with holm oak forests, pastures and grass and sheep grass terrain. In the middle of the route we cross the cauce of the Yeguas River, but if you make this route this route you will find its practically dry channel.
