Routes to go by mountain bike in the province of Malaga

The province of Malaga is one of the most mountainous in southern Spain. In a few kilometers you can save more than 1,000 meters of unevenness from the coast to Sierras such as those of Grazalema or Las Nieves. This makes the province an attractive destination to practice mountain cycling, both marathon routes and that of the Gaitanes gorge or escapes to the mountains near the city of Malaga. Also, peoples like Ojén, very close to Marbella, have taken advantage of the pull of the Mountain Bike to host enduro tests such as Big Ride or the Harden, leaving clues and trails prepared to release adrenaline on descent and enjoy hundreds of RIDERS.

Malaga Montes Route

To escape from the bustling city of Malaga, nothing better than doing it in the protected space of the Montes de Málaga, a few 5 kilometers from the provincial capital. A true lung of the city that can be completely traveled through its perfectly careful forest tracks to make MTB or hiking. We can find large extensions of pine forest, holm oaks and crops of fruit trees. From Malaga, a great slope of 1,500 meters is saved in approximately 50 kilometers of route, so you will have to be in good shape so as not to suffer in this broken route.

Gaitanes gorge

We enter the interior of the province to face an attractive Mountain Bike Route type marathon in Ardales, the town closest to the Gaitanes gorge, where the famous King's Caminito is located. It is not possible to access this impressive gorge in the channel of the Guadalhorce river, but we will travel its surroundings by bicycle, including the spectacular viewpoint of the three embalceses that can be found in the area: that of the Count of Guadalhorce, that of Guadalteba and that of Guadalhorce, practically separated by a large dam.

Enduro Route in Ojén

He White town Of ojén, a few 8 kilometers from Marbella, it has been the scene of some of the best national and international enduro tests. His steep mountains and paths are the escape route for RIDERS Malaga and many other foreigners. This short but hard route consists of three declines, with a length of 1.8 km., 0.6 km. and 1.5 kilometers respectively, chained with climbing and plain links. The last rise of 2.3 kilometers is the toughest of the route, in which more than 150 m of unevenness are saved.
