About Scott
Scott is one of the big bike manufacturers, although its catalogue is diverse in outdoor sports with winter equipment, from clothing to goggles and helmets, running accessories and motorbike equipment.
Scott is one of the most recognised brands in the cycling scene. Its bicycles stand out for two common characteristics: the reliability they offer and their value for money. It is also a brand with a peculiar history. Although its headquarters are located in Switzerland, its origins go back to the United States. And although it is one of the leading manufacturers of mountain, touring, cyclocross, urban and electric bicycles, in its early days it was known for its ski equipment - and it still is today.
Scott Sports was born in the late 1950s, when an engineer named Ed Scott patented the first aluminium ski pole in history. A decade later he decided to diversify his range of sports equipment by entering the motocross segment.
In the 1980s he landed in professional cycling, where he achieved great fame in 1989 thanks to the aero handlebar he designed for Greg LeMond, with which the American cyclist won the time trial that helped him to win the Tour de France that same year.
Greg Lemond was the great ambassador of the Scott brand in the world of cycling, his image of groundbreaking modernity, turning around a race that seemed to be lost, boosted the then American brand in the memory of the fans. The evolution that Scott brought to road cycling with Lemond's handlebars was one of the great technical contributions of the bicycle, such as the gear system or the quick-adjust pedal.
In the 1990s Scott began to stand out as a mountain bike manufacturer, especially for its full suspension models. From the beginning, the mountain bikes manufactured by Scott were distinguished by their integral damping with three movements: full travel, traction and lockout. They are bicycles that cover a wide spectrum, from cross country to downhill, with different set-ups and a wide variety of sizes. In 1991 Scott launched its Unishock suspension and four years later the Endorphin was Scott's first carbon mountain bike.
Scott has achieved great sporting success in the world of high competition mountain biking, linking its brand to great champions. This is the case for Nino Schurter, Olympic champion and one of the best bikers in history, with several World Championships and an Olympic Gold Medal to his name.
In road cycling, Scott works on very light models, sometimes weighing less than 6 kilos. Innovations in other fields, such as carbon in ski boards, open the way for them to incorporate new materials and innovations in their bikes.
Today the brand has become one of the world leaders in MTB and Scott mountain bikes are a benchmark. It is one of the major bicycle manufacturers, although its catalogue is diverse in outdoor sports with winter material, from clothing to goggles and helmets, running accessories and equipment for motorcycling.
Among the attractions of Scott bikes is their value for money. Being a top brand this is an important advantage over other options. At Tuvalum you can find a wide range of Scott road bikes and mountain bikes.
