About Cannondale
Cannondale, an innovative brand.
Cannondale has made a spectacular entrance into the world of cycling. With bold and sometimes unconventional designs that challenge traditional norms, the brand has managed to stand out and establish itself as one of the leading manufacturers of high-end bicycles.
Cannondale distinguishes itself by producing extremely high-performance bikes with a strong identity. Notably, it is known for its famous Lefty fork in the mountain biking domain and its preference for carbon as the material of choice for constructing its frames.
Cannondale embodies the spirit of innovation by constantly seeking new designs and technical improvements that challenge established conventions. The brand takes pride in creating its products in the United States while ensuring their manufacturing in Taiwan. It has made a significant impact on the industry by introducing the BB30 bottom bracket system, which has been adopted by other major brands and is now one of the most widely used standards.
In their time, Cannondale's wide rims introduced bold suspension designs that revolutionized mountain biking. The suspension system connected the handlebars to a dual-arm fork, creating a distinctive aesthetic. Their road and touring bike models were also groundbreaking, featuring thicker tubes compared to those used by other manufacturers.

Key Cannondale Models
Cannondale is what we can call a "lovemark," a brand that has truly stood out by cultivating the passion and loyalty of thousands of fans around the world. The current range of bike models it offers is far from the initial Cannondale catalog, which was mainly limited to white or red bikes.
One of the most coveted models is the Cannondale SuperSix EVO, renowned for its lightweight design and perfect balance between stiffness and comfort, making it ideal for mountain roads. The Cannondale Synapse is also an excellent alternative.
In the world of mountain biking, the Cannondale Scalpel is a reference, with its revolutionary Lefty suspension and remarkable performance. And if you're looking for an e-mountain bike, the Cannondale Moterra is an excellent choice in that field.
How do Lefty Forks work?
Cannondale bicycles easily stand out and leave no one indifferent. People either love them or dismiss them. This is particularly notable in the mountain bike market, where Cannondale has pushed the boundaries of innovation with its famous Lefty fork. This technological advancement makes Cannondale mountain bikes truly unique.
Lefty suspension forks feature a single-sided design and are renowned for their durability and shock-absorbing capabilities. The Lefty fork uses a needle-bearing system instead of traditional fork bushings, which allows for smoother operation and increased stiffness.
History of Cannondale: A Bold Brand
Cannondale was founded in 1971 in a loft of a pepper factory in Wilton, Connecticut. The brand got its name from the nearby Cannondale train station. Originally focused on manufacturing camping gear, the company quickly recognized the growing demand for high-quality bicycles and decided to enter the market. This wasn't the only time Cannondale considered a product other than bicycles. In the 1990s, the company ventured into the motorcycle world, but it ended in a resounding failure, leading to its sale in 2003.
The roots of this American brand were spread across two locations: bicycle design took place in Bethel, Connecticut, while construction occurred in Bedford, Pennsylvania. In this way, Cannondale already differentiated itself by separating design centers from manufacturing centers.
Cannondale's entry into the road cycling scene faced challenges due to the thickness of their bike tubes, which gave them an aesthetic that was considered grotesque at the time. The thick components produced by Cannondale appeared crude by European standards. This evolution influenced their production of road bikes until the arrival of aluminum frames.
However, the brand remained confident in its capabilities and entered the competition with Mario Cipollini, the fastest cyclist in the Saeco team's peloton, who kept winning on his red Cannondale. With Cipollini, Cannondale found an entry point into the market. The Italian rider was also a true pioneer, being the first to have bike frames painted in the colors of his jersey.
During the 2004 Giro d'Italia, Cannondale was the bike used by the top two riders of that edition, Damiano Cunego and Gilberto Simoni. The brand had designed the lightest bike on the market, with a model weighing less than 6.8 kilograms, a limit imposed by the UCI. This is when the slogan "Legalize my Cannondale" was born.
